SEO check for your domain

This is how the Shopware check works: Enter your domain and click on "Start analysis". The crawler checks up to 20 subpages for the following SEO criteria:

Backlinks

Backlinks are the most important ranking factor for Google. You should therefore not only pay attention to a technically flawless shop and excellent content, but especially to your link building. The crawler gives you an overview of how well you are already networked and which URLs offer backlinks to your pages.

Status codes

Only a shop that is accessible generates sales. Sounds logical? And yet there are always 4xx errors. With the Shopware SEO check, you can identify links leading nowhere on 404 pages or 5xx server errors. Not only does Google penalise pages with these status codes, they also keep customers away.

Loading times

The speed of your website is a ranking factor! You can implement various measures to reduce loading times. Check your website regularly for lightning-fast loading times.

Technical errors

The cleaner and simpler you keep your website and your code, the better the Google bot can read your website. And the better you implement the technical SEO criteria, the more likely the search engine is to reward you with better rankings. In addition, a technically good website accelerates loading speeds and ensures accessibility.
Use analysis tools regularly for your website, as this is the only way to be on the safe side for your online shop. The SEO check is compatible with all websites, i.e. it is ideally suited for Shopware TYPO3 etc.

Accessibility of your shop & URL check

Accessibility is the basis for your e-commerce: If your website is not accessible due to incorrect settings, customers will be led nowhere. Google can also penalise you due to duplicate content. Without the free Shopware SEO check, these issues may never be noticed and can lead to poor SEO performance or a drop in sales. Your site should always be available via HTTP and HTTPS, as well as with and without "www". The design of your URL also plays a role in SEO: for example, it should not be too long and convoluted. The crisper and simpler, the better for customer bots.

Shopware SEO check of the meta data

The meta data is displayed in the search results (SERPs) and is the component that represents your page. It should encourage people to click and adhere to certain SEO rules in order to be relevant and successful. The meta title is the part of the meta data that is clicked on. It should catch the eye and appeal to the search intention. Above all, it should not exceed a maximum length so that it is not cut off. Truncated titles are less likely to be clicked on. This also applies to the meta description, whose space should be utilised as much as possible. Use your focus keyword in the meta data and adjust it individually for each page - after all, each page serves a different search intention or a different keyword. The free SEO check also checks whether there is any meta data (this is omitted more often than you think). If you do not enter any metadata for Google, the search engine will look for its own text - or leave it out.

Canonical tags in the Shopware check

If there is the same content on different URLs, you can use a canonical tag to indicate which is the main page. In the best case, only this canonical URL is indexed, otherwise duplicate content may occur. The canonical tag should occur exactly once per URL (i.e. neither empty nor duplicate). If the content is unique anyway, enter a canonical tag on the URL itself.

Free Shopware SEO check: optimise images

You should not do without images. But if the files are too large, they slow down the loading time of your website, which has a negative impact on rankings. And of course, users can bounce if your shop takes too long to load. Therefore, make sure that your image files are as slim as possible but still of good quality. Did you know that the naming of the images also plays a role? Instead of "DC2402", your photo or screenshot should have a descriptive name. This allows the Google bot to read the images and use or correctly assign them in the Google image search. The free Shopware SEO check checks whether the images are correctly tagged with title and alt tags. Alt tags are, as the name suggests, alternative tags for bots. For example, they can help with accessibility by being read aloud. Basically, if you help Google to read the page, Google will help you to rank.

Check indexing with Shopware SEO Checker

Only pages that are in the index can be found by users via search. With the free Shopware SEO check, you can find out whether all pages are correctly indexed or indexable. The crawler checks the pages for the tags "Index" and "Noindex" as well as "Follow" and "Nofollow". If a setting does not meet your requirements, you can make adjustments. Without the Shopware SEO check, you could miss these settings and not realise whether the pages have the desired status. In addition to indexing, the Shopware SEO check also checks your external links: Are they accessible or do they lead to a 404 page, for example? Faulty links have a negative effect on your ranking and usability. Speaking of usability: always consider user-friendliness, e.g. through a structured design and a search function like Elasticsearch for Shopware.

Status codes in the Shopware SEO check

Keep an eye on the status codes! In the best case scenario, your pages will have 200s, i.e. an "Ok". This normal status should apply to the vast majority of pages. Anything that does not report a 200 should be checked more closely. A 300 status code indicates a redirect. Make sure that redirects are set correctly so that the link juice is passed on and you do not lose rankings or traffic. 400 codes indicate errors, e.g. a page that cannot be reached. Check these pages immediately and correct the errors by removing outdated links or setting redirects. If you receive a 500 status code, this is a server error, i.e. the problem is more extensive than just a 404 page. Check such problems immediately.

Content and hierarchies

The H headings should be used hierarchically, e.g. H3 for a sub-chapter for H2. It would be wrong to set an H2 as a sub-chapter of an H4. You should also not choose the H structure according to size. The hierarchical structure is important so that the search engine can better understand the content of your page. But a good, logical structure is also important for users when reading and finding their way around. The main heading H1 should always be present exactly once (i.e. neither empty nor duplicated). It should contain the focus keyword and be unique to your domain (as the topic of your page is also unique).
