IWEST-Tierernährung Dr Meyer GmbH & Co KG is a family business that has been successfully developing, producing and distributing supplementary feed for horses since 1987. IWEST attaches great importance to the quality and safety of its raw materials in order to promote the well-being and performance of horses in leisure and top-class sport alike.

The products are developed in close cooperation with scientists and users in equestrian sports and offer customised solutions for individual horse feeding. In addition to first-class product quality, IWEST is known for its sound advice based on more than 30 years of experience in equine nutrition.

The challenge

The migration of the IWEST online shop from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6 was a complex project that required not only technical adjustments but also close coordination with several partner agencies. The customer had a large number of discounts, vouchers and country-specific price scales that had to be seamlessly migrated and integrated into the new system. A key challenge was to map the price and discount calculations in such a way that they matched the results of the ERP system. To do this, it was necessary to carefully adapt the discount and voucher logic and define the correct conditions for the different customer groups and countries.

In addition, the site was completely redesigned to offer users better usability and optimise the purchasing process. The integration of the new Shopware 6 site with the existing TYPO3 website and the close co-operation with the client's SEO agency were further important aspects to ensure the success of the project.

Solution


In order to fulfil these requirements, we have implemented the following measures:

Discount and voucher logic: By selecting suitable plugins and implementing precise rules, we were able to fully map the existing discount and voucher structures of Shopware 5 and the ERP system in Shopware 6. In addition, we made adjustments to the frontend to ensure that all prices and conditions are displayed correctly for the respective customers.

Optimisation of the front end: Following the implementation of the initial design, we revised the entire site to ensure optimal usability. This included expanding the shopping basket so that customers can add additional products directly from the shopping basket, as well as improvements to the wish list and checkout to provide a better overview.

SEO optimisation and redirects: Together with the client's SEO agency, we made SEO adjustments and set up redirects to ensure that the shop's visibility in search engines was maintained after the go-live.

Integration with TYPO3: Communication between the new Shopware 6 site and the Typo3 website was successfully replicated to ensure a seamless connection between the two systems.

Customer training: To enable the customer to use the new system independently, we organised training sessions and provided comprehensive information about the new functions and options.

These measures enabled us to provide IWEST with a reliable and user-friendly platform on Shopware 6 that is optimally customised to the needs of the company and its customers.
